Bosch issues IMPORTANT NEW SAFETY NOTICE with certain Bosch gas cooking appliances
Bosch has issues a notice to all owners of Bosch gas cooking appliances from the production period [2006-2011].
LPG is totally safe if handled correctly, but can be extremely dangerous if incorrectly installed or handled incorrectly. Gas leaks from gas lines and gas appliances are a major cause of accidents and fatalities.
What to do if you smell a gas leak.
As a gas installer I often hear the question, “Why do I need a gas certificate when I only have a small gas bottle in the cupboard with a piece of hose connected to my hob or braai”
Well the answer is a very simple yes and I will explain why.
Depending on your peak gas usage, it is wise to keep up to a month's supply of gas as replacement for your already connected gas bottles.
Depleted gas bottles should be replenished as soon as they are empty and you should not wait until you run out of spare gas to do so.
A registered gas installer is required by law. And every home with a gas installation is required to have a gas certificate of compliance, proving that the gas installation is safe and legally conforms to South African gas regulations (SANS regulation 10087-1:2013).
Incidentally, a gas certificate of compliance (COC) is also required when you sell your house, so it make sense to have your gas installation done correctly and legally the first time.
