Gas Safety and the Importance of Gas Seals

When we think about gas safety, we often only think about the installation, repair, maintenance, and proper usage of gas appliances. However, something that is equally important is a gas seal.

A gas seal is something that you should always check when having your gas cylinder refilled or exchanged and here is why:

Gas bottles that are not sealed after being refilled may be illegally filled and what this means is that there is no guarantee that the company has adhered to all the necessary safety check before, during, and after filling the cylinder.

The unfortunate reality is that it has become increasingly common for unauthorized traders to illegally fill gas cylinders of a well-known brand and then sell them to unsuspecting customers.

Gas bottles that have been illegally filled are dangerous because there is no guarantee that they have been filled according to strict gas safety regulations. There is also no guarantee that the valves and gas lines are in good condition or have been properly connected.

The equipment used does not get  regularly maintained and this is where overfilling can occur, this been the main issue of bottle failure. But mostly it under filling and the customer is charged for a full bottle.

A gas seal provides a guarantee that the gas bottle was safely refilled and, as a result, is safe to use for its relevant application. This is why it’s important to always purchase and refill your gas bottles with a reputable company which makes sure your safety is their priority.
